This morning saw Tom going his own way for a few hours, spending time at Nellis Air Force base, while Alex and I had a lie in and a wander round the shops.
We all met up at In’n’out burger, somewhere on Alex’s wish list after a recommendation by one of his friends. He said it was nice, but not as good as Byron burger.
We then visited the Secret Garden and Dolphin Paradise in the Mirage Hotel and Casino. Owned by the infamous Siegfried and Roy, it truly was a paradise. Hard to believe you are just off the Strip in Las Vegas, it was so quiet and tranquil. We sat by one of the dolphin pools in the sun, and with no trainers in sight, the dolphins were frolicking, jumping out of the water, up onto the sides, playing with a ball and “talking” to us. It was wonderful, they were just enjoying themselves.
Siegfried himself was walking around the tiger and lion area, and even these mighty beasts seemed content in their enclosures – small though they were.
We then crossed over and went into the Venetian Hotel and Casino. After a quick drink, we went in search of the famous canals and gondolas, with the sky painted above – it did not disappoint, absolutely beautiful.
Our Humvee and driver then dropped up back near the Strip where we had pre-dinner drinks at Caesers Palace, before heading back to Ellis Island Casino, next door to our hotel for some dinner. I chose a very American steak and shrimp.
